A visitor at our window...

Last night we found this little visitor peering in our front window. Even though he's out of focus, can someone identify the species for me? Thanks for visiting!

  1. That's really cool!!! Were the ladies of you household enthused or are they not frog-o-philes?

  2. It is definately a tree frog. I believe that is is simply called a green tree frog but you might want to research the specific species.

I am jealous, I want a tree frog on my window! Not much chance of that happening here. Tree frogs require humidity in the air and AZ doesn't have much of that

    Thanks for the post

  3. I was poking around on the Internet, and I second Jared's guess that your frog was a tree frog. Illinois supposedly has 21 species of frogs. Out of these, the tree frog (Gray Treefrog Hyla versicolor) most closely resembles your frog. Wiki (bastion of truth) says that tree frogs are quite diverse in their colors and are similar to chameleons in their ability to blend in with their surroundings. Additionally, a lot of the picturs of tree frogs that I found have yellow markings on the underside of their legs similar to yours.

And, yes, I'm a major dork for attempting to research this.

  4. Thanks for all the input gentlemen. The ladies all thought the frog looked rather cute, Jeremy, but he was on the outside of the house.

Steve, I think you know how you can get a tree frog on your window, and I'll help you accomplish that if you wish...
